The Trip

Whale watching trips from July to December. This is quite possibly the only place in the world where one can see a mighty whale and a great white shark on the same boat trip. The coast of South Africa is split into sections for whale watching, with one permit holder per section. The permit holder is allowed to approach the whales to a distance of 50m .... read further

The Boat

The boat, Whale Whisperer, is the first boat in South Africa to be designed specifically for whale watching. Volunteer Program
Shark populations worldwide are increasingly threatened, and in scientific circles there is still research needed to fully understand and interpret shark behaviour. Shark education features as a prominent part of the programme.
 

Marine Wildlife...

Southern right whales are large baleen whales. The average size of an adult is approximately 15 metres, but they do grow larger. These whales are filter feeders and they sieve copepods (small planktonic organisms) from the water using huge baleen plates, which hang from the roof of their mouth
